Kwang at Singha Park

Just a few minutes drive to the south west of Chiang Rai town is Singha Park. It wil be on your right hand side as you come from town. You can't miss it, just look out for golden dragon looking beast (as per the The Beer Singha brand).

As you can guess, it is owned by the same people who own Singha beer. In my view, it is an excellent community project from a big company giving something to the people. Entry is free.

Singha Park Area

It is a huge open area, superbly landscaped, with tea plantations, an excellent Thai restaurant, cycle tracks, lakes, a Pizza restaurant, two zip lines (not in trees, but from the top of a tower with strict safety precautions) a cafe, farm and craft shop and more.

Singha Park Cafe

Singha Park is the venue for various high profile events throughout the year including an International hot air balloon festival, cycling events and running events. All extremely well managed and very, very popular.

You can drive around the park in, or on, your own transport but many people leave their car in the main car park near the entrance and use one of the park buses that travel around the park stopping at the various attractions. You can hire bicycles at a booth at the entrance to this car park if you want.

There is also a fresh market on the opposite side of the road to the park, about 200m or so back towards Chiang Rai town. The market is open from about 2.00pm - you can't miss it as there are always a lot of vehicles parked at the side of the road where it is. The produce is very reasonably priced and cheaper than most market areas in the town.
