Thailand Long Time Blog Page 10

Many visitors to Thailand encounter bar girls and share their experiences. Whether it is in a blog, website or actual hard copy.

When you look for hard copy there are some great books around that share experiences in great depth, much more depth than a blog. But are they fact or fiction? I would say they are a mixture of both, with a leaning towards fiction based on fact.

However, I will leave you to make your own mind up - but beware, most Bar Girls are NOT going to be your real girlfriend.

I have been meaning to write about this for ages. I am lazy I suppose - not like the maids I have employed over the years that  I have been living in Bangkok.

Having lived in Bangkok for many years I struck up 'friendships' with all sorts of girls. This post is about parts of conversations I have had with Bangkok bar girls. Some are amusing, well all are amusing 555555. Names are their real names but I will not state what bars they work in or did work in, maybe you will know them?

Man and Bar Girl

I popped into the infamous Afterskool BJ bar in Soi Cowboy the other night to see the owner who I happen to know.

After a few beers, I had to go to the toilet which is situated at the rear of the bar. These toilets are for customers and also acts as a changing room and toilets for the staff.

I keep reading reports in the UK newspapers that people are fed up of going into shops in Britain staffed by foreigners and having trouble communicating with them. I had a similar experience here in Thailand the other day. No, it wasn't that a Thai couldn't speak English which seems to annoy many westerners who come here. This is Thailand for heavens sake, people here speak Thai. Or so I thought.....

I have been in Bangkok many years now and have been a good customer at one particular small bar. I was a good customer but no more.

I came across this image on Twitter the other day . It is another example of Thai ingenuity when it comes to basic things. In my years in Thailand I have noticed that the Thais are becoming more supportive of the queuing idea as opposed to the free for all syndrome found in many Asian countries.
