Thailand Long Time Blog

I just thought I would remind people in or coming to Thailand that the smoking ban that was introduced in 2014 and extended in 2017, is still in place and IS enforced. I will keep this brief.

No smoking or vaping

No blog about Thailand would be complete without a post about the currency exchange rates.

Being from the UK I will only concern my self with the Baht / British pound rate which is abysmal. We all know that there are two forces in play affecting this exchange rate.

1. The strength of the Thai Baht

2, Brexit uncertainty.

I will describe here my perceived differences between a balls massage and a professional Karsai Nei Tsang massage in Thailand. I will rely on my own personal experiences and research carried out on the web.

As most of the people who read this blog are probably long distance flyers this is a reminder and warning about deep vein thrombosis (DVT). This is not medical advice. It is just something that might perhaps prompt you into finding more information regarding the DVT condition. Speak to a doctor of medicine for medical advice.

Oil Massage is a major part of my life.

I have been having regular oil massages since I was about 20 years old and I can quite safely say that at over 50 years old my skin is still supple and like a baby's. Many people have commented on how soft and supple my skin is compared with other men my age.

The amount of money I have spent over the years is astonishing.

Just thought I would post this. Make of it what you will.

I was sat in the front of a beer bar in Chiang Rai the other night having a quiet beer. There was just 3 customers including me and 2 bar girls both of whom knew me. It was quite early, about 7.30pm.

As I sat there I noticed a car pull up outside in the road. There was a large teddy bear was on the back seat. I thought nothing of it. The car drove off and parked a few yards down the road.

Ok, just back from a couple of nights in Bangkok. I flew from Chiang Rai to Don Mueang on Nok Air - return fare was 2835 Baht, not bad seeing it was a long weekend holiday and booked at the last minute.

The flight was rescheduled the day before I flew but at least Nok Air sent me an SMS to that effect in plenty of time. Anyway, the Nok Air experience was as expected. No problems. Boarding and disembarking was quick and easy. I had not checked in any luggage so that probably helped.

An unusual law in Thailand is that a car cannot park at the side of the road facing oncoming traffic. Even in a marked parking bay, as in the image,
