I have been based in Thailand since I retired at 50. After many years of partying in Bangkok, sight seeing and adventure, I met Kwang. After 7 years with Kwang I thought I knew her and her family well enough to trust them, so I married her.
In 2016 we moved from Bangkok to Chiang Rai, and in mid 2023 we moved to Phayao.
We are settling in Phayao, building a house and I am getting back into ham radio after 30 odd years away from it.
I have moved home over 15 times during my life and have had enough of it. Now that I am married and settling down, we have decided to have a house built in Phayao, Thailand to live in. Hopefully, when that is done we do not have to move again. We had certain requirements for for the house and its location. How we got on with this list and the building of the house itself is described in this blog as it happens.
I passed the necessary exam and morse test in the UK when I was 15 years old. My first call sign, which I still hold today, was G4ANH. I also had the call sign DA2BC when I lived in Germany. Now, after a 30 odd year break from ham radio I have just got my Thai reciprocal licence, call sign HS0ZQF. I am waiting until our new house is built to get on the air.
